At the same time, the Coma butterfly has expanded its species further by 94 percent since the 1970s.

But the bad news is that the condition of the UK's other 57 breeding species is not good. The 2022 report released by Butterfly Conservation says something serious. 80 percent of these butterfly species have declined in both abundance and distribution since the 1980s. The condition of insects is also not good, which are said to be cousins ​​of butterflies. In the last 50 years, the abundance of large insects has decreased by 33 percent. Eight of the UK's butterfly species have been listed as endangered while another 16 may also be at risk of extinction.

There are only 29 species of butterflies which are not threatened. While on one hand some species are benefiting, many more are being harmed due to climate change. It is also important to talk about the reasons here. The report says that almost half of the butterfly species in the UK depend on certain plants which help in their development. The High Brown Fritillary Violet depends on plants found in clear-cut forests and on sunny slopes.

But now due to farming and urbanization, the yield of such plants has reduced greatly due to which butterflies do not get the right environment and food for their growth. For this reason this species of butterfly, which was once widespread throughout the UK, is now found in only a few sites. Similarly, winter and summer are also having a great impact on the species. Their reproductive process is being affected due to extreme cold and extreme heat. Overall, climate change is creating a big challenge for these butterflies.
