Earth like water may found on a exoplanet new study suggest

Can the water that is on our Earth be similar anywhere else in this universe? This has been indicated by a new study. The study says that an exoplanet orbiting a small star about 50 light years away from Earth may contain the water necessary for our life. It is noteworthy that such planets which do not revolve around our Sun but around some other star are called exoplanets. The exoplanet that is predicted to contain water is called LHS 1140b.

The name of the star around which the exoplanet revolves is LHS 1140. It is a smaller and less bright star and is present in the constellation Cetus.

Scientists discovered LHS 1140b exoplanet in the year 2017. Since then it has been observed through many telescopes. Researchers now know that LHS 1140b is a rocky planet and is about 1.7 times wider than our Earth.

One more thing has come to light from all the observations made so far. LHS 1140b is not dense enough. This means that either it must contain a lot of water or it must contain elements like hydrogen and helium.

However, researchers do not yet know what could happen between the two. However, this secret may be revealed in the coming years. Through powerful telescopes like the James Webb Telescope, it can be detected that if LHS 1140b has a water world, then it could be the first choice of exoplanet scientists in the search for life outside our solar system. This study has been published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Recently, another report revealed that liquid water can exist on the surface of exoplanets for billions of years even under different conditions. This information was given in a study by researchers from Bern University, Zurich University and National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR).
