NASA Perseverance rover find sombrero rock shape of hat on Mars

NASA's Perseverance Rover is continuously making new discoveries on the red planet Mars. Now the rover has found a strange structure on Mars. It is a piece of stone which looks like the shape of an English cap. The photo has been captured by the Mastcam-Z camera installed on the rover. It is called Sombrero Rock in English i.e. hat shaped rock. The rover got this margin while roaming on the unit. Scientists have found the shape of this cap quite interesting and have also tried to explain the reason behind it.

Regarding this strange structure, scientists say that it is formed during a special process which is called case hardening in English. In this, the outer layer of a rock becomes hard during some chemical process, and the inner part remains soft. Or the reverse also happens. In such a situation, when the rock gradually wears away over time, this kind of hollow structure is formed. Scientists say that by studying this difference in the external and internal structure of the rock, the geological history of this area can also be ascertained.

After taking this sample from the margin unit, the rover has moved to the next stop in this mission, which has been named Juraabi Point. This is a place where three different geological units intersect each other. These include the boulder rich unit, the upper fan sedimentary rock, and the margin unit. This point is very important from scientific point of view, and it has been called triple junction. This will help in understanding the geology of Mars in more depth.
