Honda Motorcycle and Scooter (HMSI), one of the largest two-wheeler companies, saw its sales increase by 38 percent to 4,19,395 units in January. This includes sales of 3,82,512 units in the country and export of 36,883 units. The company's exports have increased by 102 percent compared to the same period last year.

The company has started the third assembly line at its factory in Vitthalpur, Gujarat. HMSI launched the new adventure tourer motorcycle NX500 in January. It will be sold only through the company's Big Wing dealerships. It will compete with Kawasaki's Versys 650, Royal Enfield's Himalayan 450 and KTM's 390 Adventure. It has a 471 cc parallel twin engine. Last year, HMSI launched the SP125 Sports Edition motorcycle. Its price is Rs 90,567 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will be available at Honda Red Wing dealerships across the country. This motorcycle has been given better tank design, matte muffler cover and new graphics than before. It will be available in Decent Blue Metallic and Heavy Gray Metallic colors. It has bright LED headlamp, fully digital instrument console. Mileage related information will also be available along with gear position indicator in its instrument console.

The SP125 Sports Edition is powered by a 123.94 cc, single cylinder BS 6, OBD2 compliant PGM-FI engine, which generates 8 kW of power and 10.9 Nm of torque. The company is giving a special 10-year warranty with it, which includes three years standard warranty and seven years optional warranty.

Global automobile company Honda plans to invest $3.4 billion in manufacturing electric motorcycles and mopeds. Honda, one of the world's largest two-wheeler makers, plans to launch 30 new electric two-wheelers by the end of this decade. Along with this, the company also aims to reduce the cost of electric motorcycles. The company had said that it will invest about $ 700 million by 2025 for the electrification of its motorcycles. After this, about 2.7 billion dollars will be invested by 2030. Honda has also increased its global sales target to 40 lakh units by 2030. The company plans to initially use the existing infrastructure for its internal combustion engine models.
