German luxury car maker Audi's sales in India increased by 89 percent last year. The company has sold 7,931 units. This is the highest sales of the company in the last eight years. In the fourth quarter, Audi's sales increased by almost 94 percent to 2,401 units. Last year, Audi launched three new cars – Q3 Sportback, Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron. Apart from this, limited editions of Q8, Q5 and S5 were introduced.

A media report states that the company's sales in the SUV segment have increased by 174 percent. Audi has the Q8, Q8 e-tron, Q8 Sportback e-tron, Q3 Sportback, Q5 and Q7 in the SUV segment. The company said that one out of every four customers is a repeat customer of Audi. Recently it opened the first ultra-fast charging station in the country at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. For this the company has tied up with ChargeZone. Its total capacity is 450 kW. With this ultra-fast charger, the company's Q8 can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes.

20 armored cars from Audi were taken on lease for the G20 summit held last year. These cars were used for transportation of foreign celebrities with complete security. Audi and Mercedes had recorded record sales during the festive season. The festive season from Onam to Diwali was good for these companies. Demand had increased due to the launch of new cars and strong consumer sentiment.

The 42-day festive sale that started from the first day of Navratri was vigorous for the country's automobile industry. Vehicle sales have set a record during this period this year. The duration of the festival starts from the first day of Navratri every year till 15 days after Dhanteras. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), sales of passenger vehicles have increased by about 10 percent during this period as compared to the same period last year. The demand for SUVs has been increasing for the last few months and there have been huge sales in this segment even during the festive season. Last year, India became the third largest automobile market in the world, leaving behind Japan. In this market, China is at first place and America is at second place.
