Delhi AQI reaches 900 after diwali Firecrackers push ncr into pollution again Latest update

Delhi AQI post Diwali: Just before Diwali, rain brought relief to the people of Delhi-NCR, who were suffering from severe 'air pollution' for several weeks. But the enthusiasm of the festival overshadowed the air of the city. The huge burst of firecrackers on Diwali has left behind the effect of stubble and the country's capital has once again come under the grip of dangerous air pollution. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached above 500 in many areas.

Data from aqi.in showed that the air quality index in Delhi was at 'hazardous' and 'severe' levels at 6 am the next morning. AQI was recorded at 910 in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, 959 in Lajpat Nagar and 779 in Karol Bagh. According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, the average AQI was around 300 in most areas of Delhi.

It is worth noting that AQI is an indicator that tells the air quality of any city. AQI between zero and 50 falls in the 'good' category. It is considered 'satisfactory' between 51 and 100. An AQI between 101 and 200 is considered 'moderate'. Between 201 and 300 it is considered 'bad', between 301 and 400 'very bad', between 401 and 450 'severe' and above 450 'very serious'.

Not only in Delhi but also in the areas of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridbar on Diwali night, there were a lot of fireworks. Videos related to this can be seen on all social media platforms. It is worth noting that despite the Supreme Court ban, firecrackers were burst on Diwali.

On the day of Diwali, the AQI level in Delhi was 218, which was the best in the last 3 weeks and the best Diwali in the last 8 years. All this was possible due to the rains just before Diwali.
