According to PTI report, the air quality index in Delhi was 437 on Thursday evening, which came down to 408 at 7 am on Friday and then to 376 two hours later at 9 am.

Rain was recorded in most areas of Delhi. Light to moderate rain was also seen in Noida, Gurugram and surrounding areas. The Indian Metrological Department has predicted that light rain is expected to lead to slight improvement in air quality before Diwali.

Rain in Delhi came due to Western Disturbance. According to a video by Skymet, Western Disturbances start showing their effects after the departure of monsoon. Due to their effect, there is snowfall in the Himalayan states of North India and rain in the plains.

It is being said in media reports that the AQI level has fallen below 100 in many areas of Delhi. Quoting the data of Central Pollution Control Board, it is being said that on Friday morning, AQI was recorded at 67 in Ashok Vihar, Delhi, 57 in Punjabi Bagh and 92 in ITO. It reached 72 in Anand Vihar also.

This means that the rain has brought relief to the people of Delhi from pollution to a great extent. According to PTI, AQI between zero to 50 is 'good', 51 to 100 is 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 is 'moderate', 201 to 300 is 'poor', 301 to 400 is 'very poor'. And between 401 and 450 is considered 'severe'.
