Drones Help Traffic Police Enforce Fines Rs 75 Lakh For Rash Driving in Delhi Gurugram Expressway All Details

Gurugram Police has deployed drones equipped with state-of-the-art optical cameras on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, which are helping in issuing challans to those driving rashly. According to a report, the police department has so far issued challans worth Rs 75 lakh in these areas. This campaign has been started to improve road safety. These drones actively patrol the expressways to identify and challan those driving recklessly.

According to NDTV, challans are being issued to people driving dangerously on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway in a new way, in which Gurugram Police is using advanced technology and drones equipped with cameras. Auto-drones equipped with special optical cameras can capture clear images of vehicles up to 2 kilometers away. This state-of-the-art feature helps the drone to not only identify vehicles but also zoom in precisely on license plate numbers. This is different from traffic cameras installed on roadsides, which work within a limited range and generate challans.

Reports suggest that when a violation is detected, these drones immediately inform the police officers present on the spot, thereby stopping the violating vehicle and imposing a fine.

A total of 8,377 fines worth ₹74,92,900 have been imposed on these drones since December 1. The fine has been imposed on various vehicles, including 7,060 trucks, 675 passenger buses and 239 buses affiliated with educational institutions.

Operating on set routes at pre-determined times and locations, these drones hover above the traffic, thereby establishing a comprehensive monitoring network to effectively enforce traffic rules.

Between January 1 and December 19 this year, 402 deaths and 945 accidents were recorded. In such a situation, this initiative can help in reducing the increasing number of road accidents in Gurugram.
