Haldwani Riots: The fire of violence that broke out in Haldwani, Uttarakhand has burnt many lives. People of a particular community pelted stones at the police who had gone to demolish the illegal madrasa and namaz place in Malik's garden in Banbhulpura. The miscreants set the local police station on fire and also burnt the vehicles of police and media persons standing nearby. Policemen had to run away from there to save their lives. Seeing the situation getting out of control, the District Magistrate has issued orders to shoot the miscreants at sight.

The uproar in Banbhulpura is showing no sign of stopping. The administration has stopped internet service in Haldwani since Thursday night. According to ANI, 4 people have died and more than 200 policemen have been injured in the Haldwani violence. Instructions have been given to keep schools closed on Friday. The examinations of Kumaon University and Uttarakhand Open University have been cancelled. State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called a high-level meeting in view of the matter.

The situation remains tense in Banbhulpura. Curfew was imposed here at night itself. According to media reports, the miscreants were hiding their faces with handkerchiefs and masks. In 3 hours they burnt more than 100 two-wheelers and vehicles. Stones were pelted at the policemen from all sides. SDM and Tehsildar are also reported injured in the incident. There are orders to take action against the rioters under UAPA.

Haldwani's Block Education Officer Harendra Kumar Mishra said in a media statement that due to security reasons, all types of schools in Haldwani from class 1 to class 12 will remain closed on Friday. Schools have been asked to strictly follow the instructions. Teams of police and other central forces are being sent to the incident site.
