HCL Co-Founder Shiv Nadar Donated Rs 5.6 Crore Per Day This Year

Shiv Nadar, co-founder of HCL, one of the big software companies, has donated approximately Rs 2,042 crore in the current financial year. His daily donation is worth Rs 5.6 crore. Nadar mainly donates to areas like education, art and culture.

This year's EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List includes 24 people. Apart from Nadar, the top 10 in this list include Azim Premji, Nandan Nilekani, Rohini Nilekani, Nithin and Nikhil Kamath, Subroto Bagchi and Susmita and AM Naik. After Nadar, Azim Premji, founder and chairman of software company Wipro, is in second place. He has donated Rs 1,774 crore. Seven of the top Indian social workers included in this list are women. Among these, Rohini Nilekani, founder of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, is at the forefront. In the current financial year he has donated approximately Rs 170 crore. With this, he has made a place in the top 10 of those who made the maximum donation and donated only from their personal property.

Naghma Mulla, CEO of EdelGive Foundation, told Forbes, “Women donors have got a great example with Rohini Nilekani. There was a time when she was the only woman on this list. Now there are seven women in this list. ” Anu Aga and her family associated with Thermax have donated approximately Rs 23 crore. USV's Leena Gandhi Tewari has also donated approximately the same amount. Nitin and Nikhil Kamat, co-founders of Zerodha, one of the largest stock broking firms, have donated approximately Rs 110 crore to organizations related to climate change and environmental sustainability. Nikhil Kamat has informed about donating half of his property this year. He is the youngest social worker in this list.

People who make major contributions to charity, social causes and community development are included in this list. This year's list gives separate information about those who have made donations from their personal assets in addition to their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions. In the last few years, the amount of donation given by the people included in this list has increased.
