The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki's plant in Gujarat has achieved the milestone of manufacturing 30 lakh cars. Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Maruti Suzuki, started this plant six years ago. In this, models like Swift, Baleno, Dzire and Fronx are made.

The company said that it has manufactured the last 10 lakh cars in about 17 months. The annual capacity of this plant is about 7.5 lakh units. In this, cars are made for sale in the country as well as for export. Maruti Suzuki's first electric car eVX will also be manufactured in this plant from next year. Managing Director of the company, Hisashi Takeuchi said that the ecosystem provided for manufacturing in the state has a major contribution in achieving this feat. He said, “With the acquisition of Suzuki Motor Gujarat, we are expanding our manufacturing. Our battery electric vehicles will also be manufactured at the Gujarat plant.”

There has been an increase in the sales of Maruti Suzuki last month. The company has sold approximately 1.34 lakh units in November. In the same month last year, Maruti Suzuki's sales were around 1.32 lakh units. For the company, cars like Baleno, Swift and WagonR have contributed significantly to the sales. However, Brezza, Grand Vitara and Fronx have helped it achieve growth in the SUV segment. Sales of the company's small cars like Alto and S-Presso declined to 9,959 units last month. It was 18,251 units in the same month last year. Sales of its hatchback segment declined to 64,679 units. It was 72,844 units in November last year. This segment consists of Celerio, Dzire and Ignis.

Maruti Suzuki's sales in SUV and MPV segments increased to 49,016 units. This segment includes Brezza, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Jimny, S-Cross, Ertiga, Invicto and XL6. The company has increased its focus on SUVs. Due to increase in demand in this segment, Maruti Suzuki's profit increased by almost 80 percent in the last quarter. From the beginning of the new year, the company has decided to increase the prices of its cars. Maruti Suzuki has said that due to increasing cost pressure the prices of cars are being increased.
