Microsoft reveals, 2 major updates will come to Windows 10 in 2017

Technology giant Microsoft has announced that the company will release major updates for Windows 10 next year. These updates will follow the third and final update to coincide with Windows 10 Anniversary in 2016.

“Windows 10 version 1607 is the third Windows 10 feature update we've released,” the company wrote in a blog post last week. Based on feedback from organizations transitioning to Windows 10, this will be our last feature update for 2016. There are two more feature updates to be released in 2017.”

According to a report from Windows Central, the first major update for 2017 is codenamed Redstone 2. It will be released in early 2017 and a second update, codenamed Redstone 3, may be released by summer 2017.

This update pattern is similar to the updates provided by thresholds. Like Threshold 1 before Threshold 2, Redstone 3 is a minor update to Redstone 2. Apart from this, it also indicates the update cycle for the operating system twice a year.

The Redstone 1 update is also known as the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. These updates have been released for Windows 10 PC and tablet users from August 2. Microsoft announced the release of Windows 10 Anniversary Update at the annual Build conference in March.
