Microsoft Surface Laptop launched, claims to have better battery life than MacBook Air

Microsoft launched the Surface Laptop running Windows 10 S at the New York Spring event. The new device runs Windows 10 S software designed specifically for education. And this device has been made available in four color variants – Burgundy, Graphite Gold, Platinum and Cobalt Blue. Surface Laptops are available for pre-order now and will go on sale starting June 15.

Microsoft claims that the Surface Laptop is a reliable, portable and lightweight device. It has been introduced in a sleek design with premium finish. And the Elcentra fabric given in Surface Pro 4 comes with keyboard and backlight. The Surface Laptop features a 13.5-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with 1080p resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, and 3.4 million pixels. Microsoft says that this laptop has the 'most intelligent touchscreen LCD display'. The base variant of the Surface Laptop comes with the latest Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD storage, while users can choose the variant with Intel Core i7 processor in addition to other memory and storage.

The biggest feature of Surface Laptop is that it claims to have a battery life of up to 14.5 hours. This laptop has a USB port, a mini display port, surface power connector, SD card slot and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The device weighs 1.25 kg and measures 9.9 mm by 14.47 mm in thickness.

Microsoft has used a vapor chamber on the rear of the laptop to keep the components cool and prevent them from overheating. There are no holes in the laptop. So you may wonder where the speakers are. Microsoft has placed the speaker below the keyboard. While the device that comes with Windows Ink and Windows Hello support and great design may attract some users, the price tag may dampen the enthusiasm of some. Microsoft has priced the Surface Laptop with Core i5 processor at $999 (Rs 64,000).

Microsoft claims that the Intel Core i7 variant of the Surface Laptop is faster than the existing i7 MacBook Pro. And he said that the new Surface Laptop will have more battery life than any MacBook Air laptop on the market.

This laptop runs on Windows 10 S, only apps from Windows Store can be run on the device. However, users can upgrade as per their need. As mentioned, the device is available for pre-order and will go on sale starting June 15.
