Taiwan Planning to Hire 1 Lakh Indian Workers, Lucrative Remuneration Will be Provided

Trade between India and Taiwan has increased rapidly in the last few years. There is a plan to send thousands of workers from India to Taiwan soon. However, this may anger Taiwan's neighboring country China. An Employment Mobility Agreement can be signed between India and Taiwan next month.

According to a media report, Indian workers can be employed in factories, hospitals and farms in Taiwan. The number of elderly people in Taiwan's population is increasing. However, the economy is not growing fast enough to provide employment to crores of youth in India. The number of older people in Taiwan's population is projected to exceed 20 percent in the next few years. China's resentment may increase with the agreement regarding employment with Taiwan. Taiwan is a self-governing island and China opposes any official exchanges with it. There is a maritime border between China and Taiwan. Taiwan's relations with the United States have strengthened over the past few years. It has also been given weapons and other equipment from America. This has increased China's anger.

India's imports from China have increased in the last two decades. However, the agreement with Taiwan will not mean that India is ignoring the 'One India Policy'. Under this policy, Taiwan is considered as a part of China. India has not officially emphasized its position on this policy and has increased trade with Taiwan. Negotiations regarding employment related agreement with Taiwan are in the final stage. A mechanism is being created to certify the health of Taiwanese workers.

The unemployment rate in Taiwan has fallen to its lowest level in more than two decades and the government needs workers to keep the economy growing. Taiwan has also offered Indian workers the same salary and insurance as the local people. In India, the central government is emphasizing on making employment related agreements with such countries which are facing shortage of workforce.
