Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of the big software companies, has decided to link the salary increase and variable payments to its employees with the rules related to working from office. Heads of units in the company have told their teams that the grades required for promotion will be based on their working from the office.

According to a media report. The company is offering digital compensation to new employees who complete prescribed courses. With this, they will become eligible for a higher salary than the annual package of Rs 3 lakh. In this report, quoting sources, it has been said that for promotion and increase in salary, it is necessary to follow the rule of return-to-office. TCS has made it mandatory for employees to attend office five days a week. Due to this, the facility of work from home has been withdrawn for some teams. The company has asked employees to go to their designated office instead of choosing the office closest to their residence. However, the HR department of the company is allowing limited work from home on a case to case basis. Recently, the company had also advised the employees to take care of the dress code in the office.

At the end of last year, it was decided to make it mandatory for employees of another software company Infosys to work from office for a minimum of three days in a week. Earlier the company had asked the employees to come to the office regularly but this was not being followed. Many other companies in this sector have also removed the work from home facility given to their employees.

An email sent by the Infosys management had said, “Please start coming to office a minimum of three days in a week. This will soon become mandatory.” In this email, displeasure has been expressed over the less response received on the earlier email regarding returning to office. It has been said that after Corona, the arrangement of work from home is sufficient for three years. Along with this, employees have been told that except for medical reasons, they will have to attend the office regularly.
