The new incarnation of Windows is coming with Windows 11 on October 5!

Windows 11 release date is set for October 5, Microsoft announced on Tuesday. This announcement has been made by the company a few months after unveiling the new operating system in late June this year. The software giant said that on October 5, the free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin for all eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come with the next-generation Windows operating system will become available for sale. The new Windows version will come with several changes including a refreshed interface and a centrally located Start menu. However, it will not include support for Android apps at the time of its official release in October.

Microsoft will begin rolling out Windows 11 to Windows 10-eligible PCs on October 5, though not all PCs will update to the new version on the first day. The update will be available in phases. “We expect all eligible devices to be offered a free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022,” Aaron Woodman, general manager of Windows marketing at Microsoft, said in a blog post.

Through Windows Update, users can know when Windows 11 will be available for their existing Windows 10 PC. Users can check for updates by going to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Microsoft has promised to relaunch the PC Health Check app soon to let users check the eligibility status of their Windows 10 PC. Meanwhile, if you're a member of the Windows Insider program, you can get the PC Health Check app in preview. You can also view the Windows 11 minimum system requirements to determine whether your PC is eligible to receive the new operating system update.

Windows 11 was originally announced as being available as an update on PCs with the latest CPUs, however Microsoft last week updated its minimum system requirements to include older Intel CPU support.

If you have a PC that is not eligible for Windows 11, Microsoft has assured continued support of Windows 10 until October 14, 2025. It also recently announced new features including Windows Hello improvements and WPA3 H2E Wi-Fi support that will also be part of Windows later in the year.

Windows 11 will take experiences and features to a new level that may not be possible on Windows 10. These include a list of interface-level changes, new sound and animation effects, snap layouts, snap groups, and an improved multi-desktop support. Windows 11 also has a Microsoft Teams integration to help users stay connected with their contacts and by default it shows the Start menu in the center.

Windows 11 also includes a new Microsoft Store and comes with various advancements as well as improvements to deliver an updated experience with touch, digital pen, and voice input. But support for Android apps will not come now but later.

“We look forward to continuing our journey to bring Android apps to Windows 11 and the Microsoft Store through our collaboration with Amazon and Intel; this will begin with a preview for Windows Insiders in the coming months,” Woodman. he said.
We can safely expect that Android app support on Windows 11 will not be available to end users until 2022 as it normally takes a few months for Microsoft to test a new update under its Windows Insider programme.
