President Ruto stressed the significance of the decision during an event in Nairobi to mark 60 years of Kenya's independence from Britain. In his speech, he said that the newly developed platform will issue electronic travel authorization, thereby eliminating the need for lengthy visa application processes.
The President expressed his commitment to the easing of travel restrictions and stressed that people from any part of the world will no longer have to bear the burden of applying for a visa to visit Kenya.
This visionary initiative is part of President Ruto's long-standing push for visa-free travel within the African continent. At a conference held in the Republic of Congo in October, he presented a framework of visa waiver plans, indicating that citizens of African countries would be able to travel to Kenya without a visa by the end of 2023.
This decision of Kenya is scheduled to start in January 2024, which will help in promoting tourism and strengthening the country's global connections.
