Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives. It is now becoming difficult for humans to live even a day without a smartphone. A similar effect is being seen on children also. A surprising thing has come to light in a survey. Smartphone maker giant Vivo has conducted a survey. It tells how excessive use of smartphones is weakening the relationship between parents and children.

A survey has been conducted by Vivo which has been conducted by Cybermedia Research (CMR). The study has been titled Impact of Smartphone on Parent-Child Relationship. It clearly states that the impact of smartphone on How excessive use is affecting the relationship between parents and children. The study included more than 1500 people from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad and Pune. The survey has revealed that 70 percent of parents believe that smartphones help in giving new information about the world.

60 percent of parents agreed that smartphones are necessary to keep them connected with their friends, family etc. At the same time, 60 percent of parents say that shopping has now become very easy with the help of smartphones.

When it comes to children, 60 percent children agreed that smartphones provide them with information about the country and the world. Whereas 58 percent children said that because of smartphones they stay connected with their friends and close ones. The surprising thing in the study is that children up to 12 years of age have started spending an average of 6.5 hours a day on smartphones. In which mostly the focus is on playing games. Of these, 91% admitted that they feel nervous and uneasy when they move away from their smartphones.

Studies show that even while staying at home, children are spending most of the day on smartphones. This is having a negative impact on the mental and social condition of the child. It has been described as nothing less than addiction. The study also says that parents are very worried about the increasing smartphone addiction among children. Now there is a great need to take steps for this. In this series, Vivo is going to celebrate Switch Off Day on 20th December.
