CERT In Warned Users Sends High Severity Alert Ask to Download Google Chrome Update Asap All Details

India's cyber security agency CERT-In has issued a warning about potential threats in older versions of Google Chrome OS. They say that to remove the flaws and prevent any future threats, users should update their browsers to 114.0.5735.350 or newer version. These vulnerabilities could allow remote attackers to execute malicious code, gain root privileges, bypass security solutions, or cause a disruption of service on the affected system.

The problems mainly stem from the flawed side panel search feature and inadequate data verification in the extension. An attacker can activate vulnerabilities by tricking users into visiting a specific website and exploit these vulnerabilities.

To be safe, CERT-In is advising users to update their Google Chrome OS immediately. Not only this, the department has also suggested to be cautious while browsing, especially not to click on links from untrusted sources to visit unfamiliar or suspicious websites or not to respond to unsolicited emails and messages.

Users can also use any popular or trusted antivirus software to keep their system safe. Apart from this, it would also be wise to keep the existing software updated.

CERT-In is currently running “Cyber Swachhta Fortnight” till February 15, 2024, with a focus on securing cyberspace from botnets that pose a threat to end-user systems. As part of this initiative, they have launched 'Cyber Swachhta Kendra' (CSK) in collaboration with eScan.

The eScan botnet scanning and cleaning toolkit is available for laptops, desktops, and smartphones. This toolkit empowers users to scan and clean their devices, strengthening protection against botnet infections and contributing to overall digital safety.
