Chandrayaan-1 data revealed water is being formed on the Moon because of Earth

In the year 2008, Indian Space Agency ISRO sent its first mission Chandrayaan-1 to the Moon. Chandrayaan-1 mission had indicated the presence of water on the surface of the Moon. Scientists analyzing remote sensing data from 'Chandrayaan-1' have found that Earth's high-energy electrons are probably creating water on the Moon. A team of researchers from the University of Hawaii, America, has found that these electrons present in the Earth's plasma cover are interfering with the seasonal processes on the Moon's surface. A study published in 'Nature Astronomy' magazine has found that electrons can possibly help form water on the Moon.

Researchers say that this study is important to know the water concentration on the Moon. This may be helpful for future human missions to the Moon. It is noteworthy that Chandrayaan-1 played an important role in the discovery of water particles on the Moon. This was India's first Moon mission, which was launched in the year 2008.

This year, India got a big success, when on August 23, ISRO's third mission Chandrayaan-3 made a successful landing in India. Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander and Pragyan rover completed their experiments on the moon for about 15 days. India became the fourth country in the world to successfully land on the moon. Not only this, India has become the first country in the world to land on the south pole of the Moon.

Vikram Lander and Pragyan Rover are currently inactive on the Moon. ISRO kept them in sleep mode and are waiting for sunlight to reach that part of the moon again. Then it will be seen whether Pragyan and Vikram are able to work further or not.
