Florida Ocean Records Unprecedented Temperatures Similar To A Hot Tub

The ocean in the southeastern US state of Florida became a hot bathtub! Yes, shallow sea water in southern Florida reached 37.8 degrees Celsius. This is the temperature of a hot tub of water. This was quite shocking because the temperature had increased suddenly. These readings were taken in Manatee Bay, about 60 kilometers southwest of Miami. Here water with a depth of 5 feet was found to be at the same temperature as a hot tub.

There is no world record for sea temperature yet, but earlier a similar incident had come to light in Kuwait. According to NDTV, a meteorologist named Jeff Masters, who is also a former government scientist, said that in 2020, a temperature of 99.7F was recorded in Kuwait Bay.

This temperature of Florida's sea water may seem good to some people living there, but it is not good for the marine world. Scientists say that this can cause damage to the coral reef ecosystem. If this system is damaged then it can become a threat to many species that depend on it. Recently the Coral Reef Foundation was trying to restore a reef in South Florida, but it was destroyed. Now after just a few days the temperature here has been found to have increased so much.

Phanor Montoya-Maya, who works at the Coral Reef Foundation, said in a statement that she has been working in a reef site for the last 10 years. Recently, when he visited Sombrero Reef, he was surprised. Here the corals were dying and their death rate was 100 percent.

According to the report, 25 percent of the species living in the marine world are found around coral reefs. If such rising temperature events occur then it can be very fatal for the coral ecosystem. According to AFP, on this day the Mediterranean Sea reached its highest temperature ever due to a heatwave. Spanish researchers had given information about this.
