Doctors transplanted pig kidney in brain dead man and it working for a month

Dr. Robert Montgomery, director of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute, said that on July 14, his team had replaced a kidney from a deceased person with a single kidney from a genetically modified pig.

Doctors noticed that the kidneys immediately started producing urine. Doctors believe that in the future, pig kidneys can be transplanted into seriously ill patients. This will also fulfill the shortage of kidneys to be transplanted.
