Hyundai Made Record 6 Lakh Unit Sales in India, To Soon Launch Updated Creta
The past year has been good for the automobile industry and most car manufacturers have performed well. Last year, Hyundai launched the sub-compact SUV Exter and the updated sedan Verna. The updated version of its mid-size SUV Creta will be launched on January 16. Last year the company's exports also increased to about 1.63 lakh units. In December, Hyundai sold 72,750 units in the country and exported about 13,700 units. Tarun Garg, Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai's unit in the country, said, “The company has grown more than the industry. This is a testament to the choice of customers for the Hyundai brand. Last year, the company's production capacity was increased to about 50,000 units. This will help in meeting the increasing demand.”
The company's new SUV Exter has received a strong response. More than one lakh bookings have been made for this. Hyundai Exter competes with Tata Motors' Punch, Nissan's Magnite, Renault's Kiger and Maruti Suzuki's Fronx. Some features of this micro SUV have been given for the first time in this segment. It gets six airbags, anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution, parking sensors, central locking, emergency stop signal and high-speed alert as standard.
Recently, Hyundai had increased the prices of four out of six variants of Exter by up to Rs 16,000. It was launched at a starting price of Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). Exter has a 1.2 liter petrol engine which generates 83 PS of power and 11.6 Newton meter of torque. It also has the option of 1.2 liter bi-fuel petrol and CNG engine, which can generate 69 PS power and 95.2 Newton meter torque. It is available in both manual and automatic variants. Its design is based on Hyundai's new design system, which has a split headlamp setup with H-shaped LED DRL.
