Its specialty was that users did not have to give any details about themselves and they could talk to other people.

According to NDTV report, Omegle owner Leif K-Brooks said that the decision was taken because it was too expensive to operate Omegle and combat its misuse.

Omegle also became popular among people because users did not have to register to chat. The website gained popularity even during Covid-19. People confined to their homes were chatting with strangers through this website.

Not only can chat be done on this website, but users can also talk in audio or video format. Despite so many features, the name of 'Omegle' is associated with controversies. Many users complained that they had to face racism and abuse on the website. Cases of child sexual abuse also came to light citing this website.

However, the website tried to avoid these problems and increased the age limit for entry into the chat room to 18 years. Despite this, cases continued to arise because there was no requirement to verify age and that did not stop racists and others from visiting the website.
