Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Z Fold 5 Getting Car Crash Detection Feature Soon All Details

Samsung Galaxy S24 series and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 may reportedly get Car Crash Detection feature soon. A new sensor called 'Car Crash Detect Wakeup' has been spotted on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 by a developer, leading to speculations that the South Korean company could bring the feature to its flagship phone. Let us tell you that both Apple and Google are making this feature available on their smartphones, which include iPhone 14 and newer devices and Pixel 4 and newer devices in the US.

The hidden sensor in the device was first discovered by Mishaal Rehman of Android Police. According to the report, the sensor appeared on the Tasker app, which allows users to automate tasks based on context that the phone was not originally programmed to do. Rahman found a sensor called Car Crash Detect Wakeup with 'Special Trigger' mode in the list of all sensors on the handset. It's a composite virtual sensor, which means it takes data from multiple physical sensors and processes it to read if a car accident has occurred.

A similar sensor was also found in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series by the developer. In both cases the design reportedly disallowed batching sensor events, potentially eliminating any delay in reporting a car accident. Thus, it can flash notifications to the user immediately and inform emergency services when needed.

Interestingly, the report also details a hidden app named MocaMobile in Samsung's One UI 6.1 build, which contains codes to turn on and off the car crash sensors. However, MocaMobile OS was also present in earlier versions of the skin, including the One UI 5.1.1 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 as well as the One UI 6.0 build for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. This is strange because the latter car is not equipped with crash detection sensors.

All this points to two possible scenarios. The first is that Samsung is actually working on bringing the feature to the aforementioned smartphones and while the code was ready for a while, the sensor has finally been put on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. If this is true, then the delay can be attributed to final changes and testing and it can be said that the car crash detection feature may be released soon.

On the other hand, smartphone manufacturers sometimes release software with code containing incomplete or completely disabled features. Mokamobile app can be one of them. At present, Samsung has not shared any plan to bring car crash detection feature in its phones.
