Sea Creature With 20 Arms Strawberry Like Body Discovered In Antarctic Ocean
Another new name has been added to the mysterious world of marine creatures. It is a 20-armed creature that looks like a strawberry. According to NDTV, this discovery has been published in Invertebrate Systematics. According to researchers, he made several trips to the Antarctic Ocean between 2008 and 2017. During this time he was searching for cryptic marine creatures. That is, such creatures which are hidden. These are called Promacrocrinus species.
The team of researchers collected samples from the Pacific Coast, Diego Ramirez and Prince Edward Island. Overall, scientists found 7 new species during this discovery. All these came under Promachocrinus. After this discovery the number of Antarctic feather species increased to 8. Its scientific name has been given as Promachocrinus fragarius. The word Fragarius is derived from the Latin word 'Fragum' which means strawberry.
Describing about these creatures, researchers have said that these are such creatures which can be found from a depth of 65 meters to a depth of 1170 meters. That means these are creatures living in very deep water. At first glance it looks like an alien. When the researchers looked at it closely, they found that its shape was like a strawberry, and its color was purple. It takes longer than usual to identify Antarctica's dark taxa or undiscovered species, researchers said. They can be identified only on the basis of molecular data.
