Tata Group Planning to Build Biggest iPhone Factory in India, 50,000 Workers to Get Employment
In a report by Bloomberg, quoting sources having information about this, it has been said that Tata Group plans to build this factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. About 50,000 workers can get employment in this. There will be about 20 assembly lines in this factory. It can be started in 12 to 18 months. Tata Group already has an iPhone factory acquired from Wistron. Apple has planned to reduce its manufacturing in China. For this, the company has started talks with assembly and component manufacturing partners in India, Thailand, Malaysia and some other countries.
Tata Group has also taken some other steps to increase business with Apple. Tata Group has increased hiring at its existing factory in Hosur. Metal casings of iPhone are made in this factory. Tata Group has also informed about opening about 100 retail stores for the sale of Apple products. Recently Apple started two of its stores in the country. The company plans to increase their number. Apple's largest contract manufacturer Foxconn plans to invest $ 1.5 billion (about Rs 12,500 crore) in India. Taiwan's Foxconn has prepared to increase the production of iPhone in the country. A few months ago, it had also sent Chinese engineers to train workers at its factory in Tamil Nadu. There are about 40,000 workers in this factory.
Recently, Foxconn representative in the country had said that the company aims to double its investment and workforce by next year. It wants to diversify its production outside China. Last year, Foxconn's production was affected due to the lockdown caused by Corona in China.
