After India's Chandrayaan-3 mission, Japan also launched its mission on the Moon on Thursday. Japanese Space Agency JAXA launched Slim Spacecraft (SLIM) for the purpose of soft landing on the Moon. The rocket named H-2A took off carrying the 'slim' spacecraft. The XRISM space telescope was also launched through the same rocket, which after reaching its destination will observe some of the hottest places in the universe.

According to the report, the mission was launched from Tanegashima Space Center at 7:42 am local time. In less than an hour both spacecraft were delivered to their orbit. The slim spacecraft now has to decide its own journey. If everything goes well, then in the next few months it will try to make a soft landing at a pre-determined place on the moon.

The special thing is that India's Chandrayaan-3 reached its target in about 40 days, whereas JAXA's SLIM will take more time. According to the report, to reach the moon, SLIM spacecraft will travel a longer path, which will consume less fuel. It will reach the Moon's orbit in three to four months. Then it will revolve around the Moon and observe it for about a month.

After that an attempt will be made to land in Shioli Crater. The Japanese Space Agency has said that the goal of SLIM is to achieve precise landing at the designated place and make the mission successful as a probe. If SLIM lander is compared with India's Vikram lander, it is much less in weight. The SLIM lander weighs approximately 200 kg, while the Vikram lander weighed 1750 kg. Vikram Lander had landed on the South Pole of the Moon, where no other country has been able to land its mission till date.
