iPhone 16 Pro to Get Ultra Wide Angle Telephoto Cameras with new selfie camera on iPhone 17 says Kuo
In a Medium post, Kuo said that Apple will upgrade the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max from 12-megapixel sensor to 48-megapixel sensor. The hardware upgrade will improve photo quality compared to the iPhone 15 Pro models.
The analyst says Taiwan-based Genius Electronic Optical will be a major supplier of the ultra-wide angle lens in the iPhone 16 Pro models. At the same time, the company will also produce tetraprism telephoto lens for the smaller iPhone 16 Pro model, due to which the optical zoom performance will be equal to the larger Pro model.
Last year, Apple equipped the iPhone 15 Pro with an advanced telephoto camera that offers up to 5x optical zoom. Previous leaks had revealed that the iPhone 16 Pro will also be equipped with the same camera hardware that offers the same functions. According to Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro is also expected to get a larger 6.27-inch display, which will encourage more users to upgrade when the new iPhone arrives.
Kuo also revealed that Apple will upgrade the iPhone 17 series with a new selfie camera from a 12-megapixel camera with a 5P lens to a 24-megapixel camera with a 6P lens, which will significantly improve photo quality. Kuo says Genius's revenue as the primary supplier of front cameras on the iPhone is expected to increase because the price of a 6P lens is 100 percent to 120 percent higher than that of a 5P lens.
