Make Lenovo laptop a smart screen, Amazon's new show-mode feature

Some Lenovo laptop models will now support Amazon's new Show Mode that turns the computer into a smart screen with a single command. With the help of this feature, you can use your laptop as a smart display. With the help of simple voice commands, you can read trending news stories, listen to music, set timers etc. from any corner of your room. Amazon says this voice-first, interactive Alexa experience will soon be rolled out to select Lenovo models like the Lenovo Yoga, IdeaPad, and ThinkPad. Let us tell you that all these models run on Windows 10 software.

In a blog post, Amazon said that this new Show-Mode supports many Alexa features. Through this, you can do many things on various topics like popular recipes, playing games, setting reminders, making to-do lists, getting your favorite audiobook read by Alexa from Audible, etc. Additionally, users can also control many compatible devices through the laptop. To start Show Mode on a compatible computer, you have to say – “Alexa, open Show Mode” or click the Show Mode button in the Alexa app on your laptop.

The company said in a blog post that with Show Mode's 'set it and forget it' Alexa Experience, users can now talk to Alexa on a big screen. For this you do not need to come in front of the laptop or go near your phone every time.

Currently, Show Mode will be available on select Alexa compatible models like Lenovo Yoga, IdeaPad, and ThinkPad PCs in India, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, UK, and US. All of them operate on Windows 10.

Lenovo first announced Show Mode at CES 2021 where it was said that this feature will be the first to come in Yoga Slim 9i, Yoga 9i, Yoga 7i, Yoga AIO 7 and IdeaPad 5 series. To ensure a seamless experience, Lenovo recommends its users to keep the devices unlocked with an open lid and support far-field mic. Amazon said that now the company is thinking of expanding the scope of compatibility and Show-Mode will soon be available on other computer models by the end of the year.
