NASA's spacecraft Lucy has spotted the moon of asteroid Dinkinesh. It is 220 meters wide. It is continuously revolving around the asteroid but is at a distance of 434 kilometers from it. The interesting thing is that the asteroid Dinkinesh is only 790 meters large. And its moon is 220 meters big. NASA says that this is the smallest asteroid in the main asteroid belt that has been seen from such close proximity. Scientist Keith Noll associated with the Lucy Project has said that it is really very exciting to find a system of two celestial bodies instead of a single asteroid.

The Dinkinesh asteroid, along with its moon, is located in the Main Asteroid Belt. This belt is found between Mars and Jupiter. It is approximately 48 crore kilometers away from the Earth. Hein Levinson, the project's principal investigator from the Southwest Research Institute, said Dinkinesh fully does justice to its name. He said that Dinkinesh means wonderful in the Amharic language of Ethiopia, and Dinkinesh is truly wonderful.

According to NASA, the team associated with the project will take about a week more time to extract the remaining data from the spacecraft.
